This weeks book review:
The Alchemist
"A fable about following your dreams"
Excerpt from the book
"Paulo Coelho's enchanting novel has inspired a devoted following around the world, and this tenth anniversary edition, with a new introduction from the author, will only increase that following. This story, dazzling in its powerful simplicity and inspiring wisdom, is about an Andalusian shepherd boy named Santiago who travels from his homeland in Spain to the Egyptian desert in search of a treasure buried in the Pyramids. Along the way he meets a Gypsy woman, a man who calls himself king, and an alchemist, all of whom point Santiago in the direction of his quest. No one knows what the treasure is, or if Santiago will be able to surmount the obstacles along the way. But what starts out as a journey to find worldly goods turns into a discovery of the treasures found within. Lush, evocative, and deeply humane, the story of Santiago is an eternal testament to the transforming power of our dreams and the importance of listening to our hearts."
Uhm, Hi!! I love love loved this book.
There are such powerful sections in this book that just make you think wow!!
It was inspiring, romantic, adorable and a page turner!!
I seriously could not get enough.
Let me give you some of my favorite quotes!!
"When each day is the sameasthe next, its because people fail to recongize the good things that happen in their lives everyday that the sun rises." Pg. 27
"Because, when you know that language, it's easy to understand that someone in the world awaits you, whether it's in the middle of the desert or in some great city. And when two such people encounter each other, and their eyes meet, the past and the future become unimportant. There is only that moment, and the incredible certainty that everything under the sun had been written by one hand only. It is the hand that evokes love, and creates a twin soul for every person in the world. Without such love, one's dream would have no meaning." Pg. 93
& last but not least, my fave!
"Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than suffering itself. And that no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams" Pg. 130.
Love the book 10/10 & I strongly encourage you all pick up a copy of this book!!
xoxo
