Guest Post: Megan from Mackey Madness!!!

Heeeey y'all! My name is Megan and I blog my little heart out over at Mackey Madness!

Rorie is an absolute doll and I am thrilled to be taking over her blog today!

I thought I would share some tips on interviewing for a job, in honor of Rorie landing her amazing job! We all want to nail it like her and get the job, right? Read on for some tips.

1) Arrive early.

Don't just arrive "on time." Plan to be there EARLY to make a good impression. Give yourself extra time for things such as getting lost, parking, etc.

2) Dress professional, but comfortable.

For all interviews, you should wear professional attire and avoid crazy patterns, colors, and jewelry. Even though we may think something is stylish, your interviewer may not. Be sure to wear something that you are comfortable in, though...something that is YOU, something that makes you feel good.

This would be a NO for a job interview, but a perfect YES for a day at work...once you have the job!

3) Be prepared to brag about yourself.

It's basically the one occasion where it's OKAY to brag about yourself and all of your accomplishments. It's more than okay, it's required!! Your potential employer wants to know why he/she should hire you above everyone else...and you have to tell them why!!

4) Never ever say you don't have a weakness.

It's that awkward question that the interviewer asks, "What would you say your weaknesses are?" No one wants to say something bad about themselves that could possibly jeopardize the interview, but you definitely don't want to say, "I don't have any." Yeah, right. That's just guaranteeing that you won't get the job. Think about things ahead of time so that you have a good answer for this question. Say your weakness, then say things that you have done to counteract it or to improve upon it. For example: "My weakness is that I get really focused on one project until completion and it's hard for me to switch to another project, but I try to set certain times to work on certain projects, so that's definitely helped me." See, you told a weakness, but made yourself sound good in the meantime! Perfection! You're hired! : )

5) Research the company.

People almost always ask, "Why do you want to work here?" It looks SO good if you know something about the company, their goals, their mission, etc. Show them that you really want to work for them for a reason, not just for a paycheck. They will be impressed!

6) Make eye contact when talking.

Oh, how this is of major importance! No one wants to hire the person who looks at the floor when answering questions. This is not an option, this is a MUST to get the job. Just do it.

Anyone else have any tips?? I'd love to hear them!

Thanks for having me, Rorie! And congrats again on landing that job!! : )

Is this a dream!?

I am sitting here at my breakfast table eating a bowl of cereal a
going over yesterdays events and continually pinching my arm to see if I wake up.
With graduating in 7 day, I have applied to about 15 or so jobs.
I have become frustrated, discouraged and stressed with the constant applications,
the constants changing of cover letters and the constant, printing of resumes..
Well 2 weeks okay, I got an amazing email telling me to come in for an interview.
I was anxious and nervous and practiced interview questions with everyone.
I picked out my nicest business suit, and pulled all my materials together and headed in.
My interview was about 45 minutes and at the end
they offered me the job!!
Right there.
Full time with benefits in my field of study!! I can not believe it!!!
I am completely and utterly amazed. I am so excited, accomplished, and just in awe!!
I want to thank everyone who encouraged and supported me.
You are all the best!!
xoxo.

Wedding Wednesday # 17

After having my wedding almost completely planned
with 8 months to go.
I found that picking my bridesmaid dress was one of the most difficult things.
I live about 3 hours away from all of my bridesmaids, so its difficult to coordinate getting together.
However, we were finally able to get together to pick our Bridesmaids dresses!
So our pick?!
Very classic, traditional black short dresses.
Nothing too tight, but not poofy.
Of course with pockets with what my friend refers to as a place to keep a flask.
When reminded that its a open bar.
She responded with "not in the church"
She's kidding, obviously.
So what do you think!?
Then when just about to leave, I spotted a cute little number that I thought would
be perfect for for the rehearsal dinner.
Again, classically simple, classy yet modern.

Excuse my messy hair and brown flip flops.
I was riding in a convertible and it was all just a huge mess.
Also love that nice white hanger string hanging out!!
Classy..
But overall, love the dress.
Ill have to get it altered.
I lack some serious hips so the waist doesn't fit perfectly, but I think it matches perfect
for what I'm looking for!!
Not to mention, it will be great for future weddings!!!
What do you guys think!?

xoxo.

From 13.1 to 13......I mean none.

So this semi could go on a wedding wednesday post, but semi not.
For those of you who do not know I ran a half marathon a little less than a year ago now.
A year ago, I was in kick butt training mode. 7 miles was about my average run
and 5 miles was considered a  short running day.
 I was ridiculous.
However, after my half marathon (&cutting off 10inches of my hair)
school started back up and I became unable to find time/motivation to run.
Well here I am almost a year later and hardly can run a mile let alone 13.1.
Now I am not training for another half marathon,
however, with my wedding and honeymoon 8 months away I am trying to get my winter pudge off
and get my dream of Jessica Alba abs.
Now I don't have a gym membershio at the moment because with 11 days left of school
I haven't found the time to be able to go and didn't want to waste the money.
But I have still be trying to make it running
and I have 5lb weights at home to tone with.
For those of you who want to know. I am not really trying to lose weight.
I am 5'2" and happy with my weight, but would love to be more toned for my wedding/honeymoon.
So I am writing this to hopefully find my motivation to become the work out junkie that I was one year ago.
So please excuse my occasional posts that will be about running and working out.
Also if you have some extra work out motivation please pass it along, as I will be sure to return the favor!
With all this being said.
Fiance and I went on my longest run in about 6 months yesterday.
Only 3 miles.
Kind of pathetic in my workouts but a good start none the less.
The first mile was great, most likely because it was down hill.
But I felt good, no cramps, no burning lungs, just a sweet burn.
Miles 2-3 not so hot.
My run had 2 large hills, all which were near the end. The first hill hurt but I handled it.
The 2nd hill. I pretty much wanted to stop.
But I didn't.
Finished the run in just over 29 minutes making my miles at 9.51 a mile.
At t his moment I would like to get them down to 9:45 and eventually right at 9.
Now I need some sort of ab work out that will help me tone up my abs.
My stomach has always been my trouble spot.
I am not even going to tell you how many times I have been asked if I was pregnant.
Which makes me obviouslyupset and want to fight everyone.
So my stomach is never something I have been able to find good workouts for.
So my lovely fitness bloggers.
If any of you have any tips on what are good workout routines with out a gym.
Or how to find the re-motivation to get back out on the pavement to start running long distance again
please please share.
Only 8 more months to get back in shape.
#skinnies

True Life: I'm a Fluff Blogger!!

Linking up with Fabulous but Evil & Mrs. Monologues's amazing True Life Link up!!
I am super excited about this and love both of their Blog's, so if you don't follow them def. go check them out!
But looking at all their categories of types of bloggers I def. fall into the fluff blogger category!!
So I am going to do a little intro/ get to know me post, because I'm fluffy like that!!

  • My name is actually Amoree, pronounced Uh-more-ee.  Yes meaning Love in Italian. But you can call me Rorie, which is what I go by. Only my mom and dad call me Amoree. My mother is super Irish, hence my red hair and my father is super italian. So I am a wonderful mix of Italian and Irish!!
  •  I am a New Yorker, born and raised and spent 18 years of my life living 20 minutes outside of NYC, but for the last 7 Years I have been away at school where I will be finally done with my master's degree in just a couple weeks!
  • I am marrying the most amazing man I have ever met in just over 8 months. You may see me refer to him as fiance, hubby-to-be, B, or Beau. He is a super sweetheart who is obsessed with golf, gucci cologne, small puppies, and cargo shorts. He is also a super dork though and would totally pick spongebob over watching anything else anytime.
  • I obsessed with Yorkies and have the cutest puppy ever.
  • I have been planning my wedding for 8 months now, and my fiance and I are having a blast planning!!! {See the tabs above to see our engagement pictures and wedding countdown}We have even decided to start a scrap book for all of our adventures!! I write Wedding Wednesday posts about every other Wednesdays about planning and cute things that I find!! Come by next Wednesday to see my bridesmaid dress picks and rehearsal dinner dress!!
  • I am super short only 5'2" and 95% of the time I wear wedges and some type of other heels.
  • Daisies are my all time favorite flower.
  • I try not to swear and say things like awh ship instead. I feel like I was meant to live in the 50's and don't think its lady like for me. But I don't judge others.
  • I am a work out junkie. I feel super lazy when I don't work out, however due to 85 hour work weeks I haven't been able to do much of that. I ran my first half marathon last year and will be back to blogging about my work outs as soon as I graduate!! On average, I run about 20 miles a week. Check out my work out widgets on my side bar to see what I've been up too!!
  • I love make up and fashion but am not willing to spend obscene amounts of money on material possessions. I think that money can go to something much more important than designer shoes and brand name makeup.
  • Beau & I are huge movie watchers and go to watch about every movie ever. I am obsessed with Beetlejuice, Harry Potter and Chick flicks. As well as Resident Evil and Lord of the Rings #dontjudgeme.
  • I am a huge reader and am obsessed with books. I am super bummed about borders closing down and may or may not have spend about 150 dollars on books. See my book list in my tabs above for reviews.
  • Blogging is my way to vent, my way to share my thoughts and my way to connect with fabulous people all over the world!! I have been blogging for over the year and it has been one of the most amazing things I have ever experienced!! I'm currently reading Something Borrowed!!
  • I have 4 tattoos and had my lip pierced in high school. I kind went through this I want to be a girly emo punk phase in highschool, while being the captain of my volleyball team and lacrosse team and president of the debate club. #hugedork
  • I put hashtags in my blogs. Sorry I just started tweeting not that long ago and am new at it. Check out my twitter!!
  • I have had my kids names picked out since I was about 15. However, Beau and I aren't planning on having kids until a couple years after we're married.
  • I can't see far away at all, but hate wearing my glasses, and don't like contacts. #notsosmart
  • I pick my split ends way too much and have donated over 2 feet of my hair!
  • I believe that love, recycling and peace are the most important things in life. I thinking people need to slow down and enjoy the simple things. I think people should say no to needing a bag in a store and buy water bottles to cut down on plastic. I believe that smiling and laughter is the best medicine. I think pink makes people feel better and I believe that I can help change the world one person at a time.
I write about my life, my fears, my stresses and my loves.
I write what I know and I know what I write.
I love all of my blog friends, comments and try to comment back on as many as I can!!
So I hope you enjoyed my fluffy post!!

Wedding Wednesday # 16

The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.
Eleanor Roosevelt
I just thought that was too pretty not to share.
 ♥
I am on a ridiculous nailpolish high lately.
As a recovering nail biter, I often find with out nail polish on my nails easily break
which leads to me picking them or biting them
which leads to me getting very angry at myself.
Therefore I try to keep nail polish on them as often as I possibly can.

Recently I bought 3 super fun colors that lead to my new obsessions.
This leads me to my new obsessions of Wedding inspired nail polish colors.
I am most particularly fond of Essie's Collection and will most likely be buying them all.

Look At Me Now

I am not a huge fan of hip hop.
I like a few songs that come on the radio now and then, but I am much more of an NSYNC fan than I was an Eminem or Puff when I was a tween #Waitingfornsyncscomeback.
But I heard this song on the radio the other day and I thought to myself.
How does a person physically talk that fast without being manic.
So I thought, it has to be edited.
Well I was semi wrong.
Meet Karmin. Amy {the girl} rocks!! But the two together, Karmin, are just too cute
xoxo.
