32 Weeks Baby Bump Update!!

32 weeks!!
My favorite day of the week!!
Only 8 more to go!!
(& potentially 7 due to being induced)

Weight gain: Still at 12.5 pounds gained. Praying we don't go any lower than this and that I gain a few more in the next coming weeks.
Blood Pressure: Since being on blood pressure medications, they have been perfect.
Food aversions: None
Morning sickness: None
Appetite : Back to normal and wanting to eat everything!!
Cravings: No alls I want is sweets. I have a list of food my husband should bring to the hospital for after the birth lol. Including powdered donuts, chocolate frosted donuts, cookies, and cadbury cream eggs!
Blood Sugars: All have been in normal "non-diabetic" ranges except one when I ate HORRIBLY and it went 7 points over to 127.
Clothes: Really can't fit into too many pairs of regular jeans, but can still wearing jeggings, and work pants with a belly band. Really have been wearing a lot of leggings and yoga pants.
Headaches: None:)
Sleeping: Sleep is back to normal, less waking up in the middle of the night having to pee!
Stretchmarks: Thinking I have one tiny one at where my belly button was pierced. :(
Bellybutton: So outtie it makes me laugh!
   Wedding Rings: On
Backaches: Very occasional.
Heart Burn: A little here and there, but doesn't last long, hiccups are the worst!
Energy and Motivation: Normal
Emotions: Mostly Happy, but I notice I cry MUCH easier.
Movements: All the time :) They are less forceful now which I am imagining is due to him running out of room in there.
GenderBoy!
Name: Greyson
Missing Anything?: Still Missing Food. I just want to be able to eat what I want!!

Updates:
  • Had our fetal weight ultrasound. Little man is weighing 4lbs 15oz at 31 weeks. This is about 2.5 weeks ahead of where I should be at.
  • Baby shower is in 9 days!!!
  • We got his car seat and stroller for an early present from my momma!! I love it!!
Next appointment:
OB appointment tomorrow.
We will most likely be finding out the actual induction date, if we will be looking at having a c-section and want the doctor thinks about his weight.

Baby Bump Update: 31 Weeks

Happy Thursday Blog Loves!!!
31 weeks!!!
Down to the single digits (week wise) until I hold my sweet little boy!
We are getting closer and closer to the big day & we had some pretty interesting developments this week.
See updates below!
Weight gain: Down to 12.5 lbs gained. I am continuing to get quite nervous about the weight lost, but doctor continues to say that the baby is perfect. In fact he is too big for what he should be lol. He is chalking this up the healthier diet caused by the diabetes. I am continuing to try and drink whole milk to gain weight.
Blood Pressure: Since being on blood pressure medications, they have been perfect. 120/70 last check.
Food aversions: None
Morning sickness: None
Appetite : Back to normal and wanting to eat everything!!
Cravings: Mostly salty with my love of cereal and cookies. None of which I can really eat!
Clothes: All my pants still fit, but need the belly band. Loving jeggings, leggings and yoga pants!! I can wear most of my non maternity shirts minus a few very fitted ones.  Wearing some maternity pants (3 pairs) and a few maternity shirts.
Headaches: Nothing too bad this week.
Sleeping: Sleep is back to normal, less waking up in the middle of the night having to pee!
Stretchmarks: None yet!  But I do notice this one mark right where my belly button piercing was when I get out of the shower that looks peculiar. Its ONLY there when I get out of the shower.
Bellybutton: Outtie and visible through the shirt!!
Gender: Boy!
Name: Greyson
Missing Anything?: Foooood. I want to eat everything.

Updates:

  • I now only have to check my blood sugar 4 times a day, 3 time a week!! On Monday, Wednesdays and Saturdays!! :) Doctor called me a "fake diabetic".
  • Uterus measurements (from pelvic bone to top of uterus) is measuring 3 weeks larger than it should.
  • Due date is most likely being moved up a week & we will be induced on May 16th. This will be confirmed next appointment.
  • There is talk of a potential C-section if the babe ends up being 9lbs or over.
Next appointment:
Fetal Weight Ultrasound today, to see if little man is actually a chubs, or if I have extra fluid.
Next OB appointment next friday, 3/29.

Julep Maven

So as some of you know through following this blog, I am completely obsessed with nail polish.
I have way too much and change my polish way to frequently.
I love it.
So after a while of hearing about Julep {mostly from Tara @ fabulousbutevil}
I decided to give in and try out the monthly box.
The first box is a starter kit & and it was free, although they suckered me into buying an extra polish for 4.95, but the first three were free +shipping.

It came really cutely packaged with pink and black wrapping.
Very girly.

SO far I have only used one color, but it goes on quite smoothly.
I have only had it on for two days, but no chips so far!!
I am going to let the box go for 1 more month {maybe 2} before I cancel, as each extra month cost 19.99.
You can cancel any time before the 20th and you won't be charged for that month.
So far I like it.

30 Week Baby Bump Update

Happy Thursday!!!
We have hit the big 3-0!!
I can't not believe it.
I think here really is going to start the countdown!!
We potentially have 9 more weeks (see updates below)

Weight gain: 13 lbs. I was holding steady at 3 lbs lost, but stepped on the scale this morning and lost another .3 lbs. I am trying to drink a glass of whole milk with every meal now to plump me up & instead of egg whites in the morning, I am using whole eggs. Hopefully this will add some weight :)
Baby Stats: Baby is right over 3lbs and the size of a small cabbage. He is able to start dreaming now & gets the hiccups quite frequently.
Blood Pressure: Started blood pressure medications, which kind of bummed me out. I am officially diagnosed as Gestationally Hypertensive. Blood pressure on last Friday after 2 times of taking the medications was 136/62. So its decreasing. I am a little nervous that it will get too low, so I have to watch for dizziness.
Bellybutton: Outtie and visible through the shirt!!
Gender: Boy!
Name: Greyson
Missing Anything?: Being able to eat whatever I want, SUPER hot showers & not taking any medications!

Updates:
  • Baby appointments have moved to every other week as opposed to every 4 weeks :)
  • We don't have any more appointments with the nutritionist. She states my blood sugars levels are exactly normal, so unless anything changes to just keep doing what I am doing. She hopes that the doctor will decrease the amount of times I have to check my blood sugar when I go back!
  • Last time we were at the doctors, he mentioned that I will most likely be induced at 39 weeks due to the diabetes and the hypertension. Possible new due date 5/16. This means 9 more weeks!
Next appointment:
OB appointment on tomorrow 3/15.
 Questions to address:
- Blood sugar levels
-Induction date

29 Week Bump Update

Again my favorite day of the week &
as we grow closer to May I am becoming more excited
29 Weeks!!
1 week away from the big 3-0!
2 weeks away from single digits (in terms of weekly counting)!

Weight gain: 13 lbs. I have lost about 3 to 3.5 since last Monday. I am eating 3 meals a day with 2 to 3 snack. My blood sugars are right on target. I switched to whole milk in hopes of adding some fat on me. Dr. says if I continue to lose more weight we will do more blood tests & and ultrasound to make sure baby is growing. He is measuring 2.5 weeks ahead by the measurements of my uterus, so I am pretty sure he is growing! I am attributing to the weight lost to my decrease in carbs and sodium, but it still makes me nervous!
Baby Stats: Second week into our 3rd trimester. Baby is the size of a squash!! Weight near to 3 lbs and about 17 inches long!!.
Blood Pressure: High at my last OB visit. 140/90, but I have noticed that when one nurse does it, it is always particularly higher. At my repeat blood pressure test it was 146/74 and two days later 140/68. However, when I take it at work (I work in a hospital) Its 120/70... They now put me on blood pressure medications. Labetalol 100mg 2x a day & I am quite nervous that my blood pressure will be too low.
Bellybutton: Outtie and visible through the shirt!!
Gender: Boy!
Name: Greyson

Update: Baby appointments have moved to every other week as opposed to every 4 weeks :)
Next appointment:
Tomorrow is our follow up appointment with the nutritionist so she can tell me how my blood sugars have been.
Prayiiing she will say I am in range of a non-diabetic!
3/12 for our next OB Appointment.

Pregnancy Life with Gestational Diabetes.

It has been over a week since I was diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes and life has become slightly more complicated.
Don't get me wrong.
Gestational Diabetes is not the worst thing that could happen in pregnancy.
It's the most common pregnancy complication
and relatively harmless to the baby.
It can cause the babe to have a lot more sugar in his blood, think baby in a constant candy shop, therefore once daddy cuts the cord when he is born his constant candy shop life comes to an end causing him to then have low blood sugar and may need to be supplemented with formula or insulin :(
However, this can be prevented with a healthy diet and checking blood sugars.
So I now have my fancy blood sugar checker thing, and awesomely fun needs to stab my fingers.
I now have the amount of carbs I am allowed to eat per meal, and some healthy choices to eat.
So no more this :(
To give you a little example of how difficult it can be:

I wake up run to the bathroom & check for ketones in my urine (sorry tmi)
Ketones are apparently when you aren't eating enough so fat is spilling into your urine.
Then I check my fasting blood sugar, since I had not eaten in 8 hours.
This should be between 70 - 99.

Breakfast:
I am allowed 30 grams of carbs.
On average 1 cup of cereal has about 40-45 grams of carbs
& 1 cup of milk as 13 grams of carbs.
So this leaves my 1 major craving out of the picture :(
Bread tends to have 20 grams for 1 slice!
So no bagels, toast or things like that.

What I have been eating:

2 eggs, egg white omelet
(Protein has 0 carbs)
1/8 cup cheddar cheese
1/8 cup red bell peppers
Then i found some low carb cereal
1/2 cup special k protein cereal
1/2 cup of milk.
I could switch it up and do 1/2 slice of toast
& 2 tbs of peanut butter.

Some people can not do cereal and milk at all in the morning because the body is sometimes slower at processing sugar in the morning than the rest of the day, but I can.

Two hours later, I check my blood sugar again.
These numbers need to be less than 120

Then I have a
 Snack.
This is around 15 carbs, so I can have
1/2 cup of blue berries or 10 grapes
10- 15 almonds
and a cheese stick.

Lunches:
I can have 45 grams of carbs for lunch so I usually do
1 cup of mixed green salad
1/3 cup grilled chicken
1/4 cup broccoli
1/4 cup cucumber
1/4 cup shredded cheese
Red wine vinegar has no carbs
or about 3-4 tbs of balsamic vinegar
1 apple (sliced)
2 tbs peanut butter.
Usually I just have water.
Today I really wanted a class of milk, so I did half of an apple.

Two hours later, I check my blood sugar again, hoping for less than 120.

Then I have another
Snack.

Usually this is about 15- 20 grapes and a cheese stick.

Dinners:
I again can have 45 carbs for dinner.
 So I have been doing

3- 4 oz of protein, so steak, chicken, or pork
1 cup of mashed sweet potatoes or pasta ( I have been doing dreamfields pasta, which has a weird lower carb count)
I use pesto sauce if I do pasta
1 cup of veggies, broccoli or carrots are best.
1 cup of milk
(Whole milk is best because the fat help block the carbs)

I test my blood sugars again two hours later, again hoping for less than 120.

Snack.

This snack is a bit more since its my last thing for the night so I am allowed 30 grams of carbs.
This means

1 slice of toast
2tbs of peanut butter
1 tsp reduced sugar jam

OR
1 cup of frozen yogurt

Or
1 banana
1.5 tbs of peanut butter.

Then I repeat and do it all over.

I keep track of all my meals, and how many carbs they are in a small little notebook along with all my blood sugars.
It takes longer to shop in the store because I keep having to look at carbs on the back of the package.

As you can see, its quite time consuming having to look up carb counts, and make sure I am not going over what I allowed to.
Not to mention pricking my finger is not my favorite thing in the world!
So for those of you lucky pregnancy ladies who were blessed to pass the glucose test,  I am jealous.
Not to mention that since my blood pressure have been high I have to watch my sodium intake as well!!
But I am quite thankful everything I am doing, I am doing for my sweet little boy!!
