"The More That You Read..."

"...the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go."
Dr. Seuss
It is a sad sad day.
The other day I recieved an e-mail from Borders stating they are going out of business!!!
My first reactions was sweeeet good book deals.
But then when I thought about it, where I am gong to get my books?!
Target? Walmart?!
I mean sure I guess I can get books there but their selection is very limited.
I don't want to have to buy a kindle or nook.
One because I have enough forms of technology between my cellphone, laptop and ipod and two I stare at technology 75% of the day between work and home.
My little eyes need a break and my books are the way to do it.
Not to mention my 12 year old fear of Y2K...
{juuust kidding}.
I could order them on amazon, but I am kind of a intstant gratification type of gal.
So, I'm stuck.
At this moment I refuse to give into e-readers.
Libraries are just too romantic to add to the fad that may cause them to become non existent.
I have about 10 or so books to last me quite a bit of time,
and hopefully by then a Barnes & Nobles with come save me!!
However, I did take advantage of Borders Going Out Of Business Sale & picked up 5 new books {so far}

Yeah, not going to lie to you all.
I'm probably going back for more!!

  1. that is sad! i always think about You've Got Mail and the Shop Around the Corner when I hear things like this. Love bookstores even though I'm not a huge reader!

  3. Yay I am so happy that someone feels the same way about books as me! I refuse to give into e-readers and I am really scared that one day books just won't exist. I live 2 blocks from Borders and I am sooo sad it will be gone. I hope a Barnes & Noble would move in its place because I can't imagine my neighborhood without a book store. My two newest favorite books: The Help & The Book Thief...try to buy them if you haven't read them. :-)

  5. Borders is going out of business? Were the sales good? I need to go ASAP there are so many books I have been dying to read but their $25 price tag at Target is a bit much for a book I'll read in less than a week. ughh

  7. I was NOT happy about Borders closing but I was looking forward to great deals. So I went to the store on Sunday and it was worthless! The only deal they were having was 10% off! I was expecting a little more than that… have you ever tried Half.com? It’s an Ebay site that only sells movies and books. They sell them for dirt cheap; the only bad thing is they put shipping on EACH item… but it still winds up being cheaper than chain stores such as B&N or Borders.
