Dear bloggers,
I have less than 1 month until I officially finish with graduate school,
and I'm not going to lie. I'm scared.
I have applied to about 10 jobs so far and I have no idea what I'm doing.
Do I just send in my cover letter & resume with the application online and let it be?
Do I call and check up on the application.
How many jobs do you think are reasonable to apply for?
I am so new and inexperienced at this that I am super confused.
So I am reaching out to ask for your advice and tips.
Help me learn to be a better job applicant!!!

ReplyDeleteif i were you i would put in as many apps as possible. its always best to call where you put the apps in at and ask to speak to the manager and ask them about your resume and check up on it and be very polite and let them know you very interested in the job.

Hey lady! Definitely apply to as many jobs as you can - don't limit your options. If it's an online application, I would see if you can find an email address for HR and just send a follow-up. I think it shows initiative if you send a follow-up email (include your cover and resume as attachments) and just say you applied to this job, you're very interested in the company and you look forward to hearing from them.

ReplyDeleteApply for as many as you can!! I think it's okay to try to email or call HR and just check in about your application. We have people do that all the time!
ReplyDeleteAgreed with Jennifer, always do a cover letter! Make sure your resume is not more than TWO pages and apply to as many jobs are you can :)
ReplyDeleteA short, concise email a couple days/one week later is totally acceptable and probably the best thing to do!
GOOD LUCK applying! I feel you though girl, graduating and getting out into the real world is difficult and everything begins to change so fast.
