How To Minimize Time Spent Getting Ready In The Morning

As most of you have probably can tell,
I love to sleep. Although, I would be completely satisfied if the body only needed 5 hours of sleep to remain functional, since it doesn't, I usually need 7.5- 8 hours of sleep each night, or I can get a bit cranky.
With this being said, there are many things that I do to minimize the amount of time I spend getting ready in the morning.
So. I wake up at usually around 6am to be outta the door by 7am.
Opi Shatter
I also refuse to go to work or internship looking anything less then my best.
So here are my tips to help you reduce the time you spend getting ready.

1) I do as much as possible the night before.
This means I pick out my outfits the night before and hang them out.
I find that if I hang them in the bathroom while I shower, some of the
steam will help make them neater. I iron if need be, paint my nails,
make my lunch, and if I am done early at night I shower, but I can
never go to bed with wet hair so this doesn't happen often.

2) I brush my hair in the shower.
So in my shower, I keep one of those little hair brushes that came
with the bigger brush. So toward the end of my shower, once i've
washed all of the conditioner out of my hair, I brush my hair, while
it's still soaking wet and the waters still going. Trust me, it is a lot
Mmmm
easier to brush it here then when you get out. Then after I turn the
water off, I brush it again, still standing in the shower and this bring
a ton of water out making it much easier to dry and brush.

3) I check technology while eating breakfast.
I am a firm believer that breakfast is super important. Not only will
I be less hungry before lunch time, but it will kick start my metabolism
so I can stay more thin. Since fiance goes to the gym at 6am, I have
no one to enjoy breakfast with, so I set a side a few extra minutes to
check up on blogger, and let my hair dry while eating delicious cereal.

4) I blow dry my hair a little & then do my make up.
I have found that blow drying my hair right at the go takes a while, and
even when I let it air dry first it still can take some time. Therefore, I
have found that if I blow dry my hair a little bit first (for a couple minutes)
and then do my makeup and finish getting ready, when I go back to blow
drying my hair it takes half the amount of time.

5)  I use blow dry lotion.
I doubt that everyone uses blow dry lotion, but let me tell you, go invest.
I buy 10 dollar blow dry lotion from Target and have had it for like 3
months. Not only does it make my hair feel soft and smell amazing, but
it really cuts at least a couple minutes off how long it take my hair to dry.

So will these 5 little tips, I have found that I can get my morning routine down to about an hour. Give or take. This is also when I wear my hair straight, if I have to curl it I wake up a bit earlier. All that I know is that I try to get in as much sleep as I possibly can! Beauty Rest is a must ♥ I would however, love to invest in a car starter!! That would be amazing, would take a lot of time off my routine & would let me get into a warm and toasty car before work!!!
What do you do to cut time off your morning routine?

Today, I had a very busy, long 9 hour work day all at one job. I am quite exhausted and looking very forward to hoping into bed in some toasty pj's.  Not sure when I get to sleep though because the people down stairs are being obnoxiously loud. I am also really craving some caramel turtles right now!! Random!!
Also, as you can probably already tell, I changed my blog up a bit. It is super pink but it makes me smile. Let me know what you think ♥

Hope everyone is having an amazing weekend.

  1. Thanks for the tips! I am also someone that needs 7.5 to 8 hours of sleep each night otherwise I feel tired the whole next day :/ These tips are great and I will try the brushing my hair in the shower thing and using blow dry lotion.

I also need to look neat for work, but have a full make-up routine and a minimal make-up routine that just involves under-eye concealer, bene-tint and mascara. When I am really in a hurry I go with the minimal routine and it saves me about 10 minutes :)

    Thanks for the tips

  2. I'm gonna have to try that blow dry lotion! My hair isn't long (shoulder length) but it's very thick, so it sucks and retains water like a fiend, making my dry time like 15 minutes. It's so annoying!

but ever since baby came into the world, and i went back to work, I have had to wake up an additional 30 minutes earlier to pump and such.

  7. I do the same where I try to do everything the night before. If I don't, goodness, the morning turns horrific and things always end up forgotten.
    Great post. ♥
