So boyfriend and I are looking at engagement rings.
Nooo, I am not sure when he is going to ask me, or if it will be soon but we are looking around to see what kind I like, where has the best deals and best coverage.
My question is...
Should I look to get an engagement ring at a place like Kay's because of its lifetime guarantee and there is no chance of it closing down?
Or should I get an engagement ring at a small privately owned local business [where I found the ring of my dream] with fear that it could sometimes close down and I wouldn't be lost if the stone broke or fell out..
Ugh I'm stuck. It would be more expensive at Kay's but is the guarantee worth it?
I know I can get it covered under renters insurance but I won't have renters insurance until like July.. and I am anticipating him asking me in the next couple months..

My engagement ring is a vintage one from my boyfriend's grandma and it is beautiful. I would say go for a one off special kind so it's different and you can always get it sorted if something goes wrong at any major jewelery shop. Having the ring of your dreams is waaaaaaaay more important than a lifetime guarantee:)

hmmm.. my center diamond was hubby's grandma's and he got the setting at a local jeweler. i went engagement ring shopping at all the major jewelry chains and wasn't that impressed. so happy hubs got me a unique ring! go for the ring of your dreams!

ReplyDeleteI would definitely say check out a place that's going to have your perfect ring. I think having the ring you want will overcome your fears of what happens to it since I'm sure you'll take good care of it since it's your engagement ring.
